SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE: PSC, 2:50 p.m., February 15, 2023

As the Ponoka Secondary Campus community is aware, the school was closed today out of an abundance of caution while the RCMP investigated a reported threat.

The RCMP responded very quickly, including calling in additional resources, and the matter was fully investigated.

We have been informed the RCMP has concluded its investigation, and there is no threat to public safety.

As a result, Ponoka Secondary Campus will be open as usual on Thursday, February 16, 2023. 

School administration, as well as the School Resource Officer, will be following up with staff and students on February 16, 2023. The RCMP will also be releasing a media communication with this update.

We understand an incident such as this can cause concern amongst the school community. As safety of students and staff is our top priority, we thank you for your patience and understanding as this matter was thoroughly investigated.
